For the 2016 season only, I am considering allowing everyone to keep as few or as many players as they choose to, up to the roster max of 40. This is to be fair to everyone because of the deletion of the league and to be fair to the new owners to allow them to put their fingerprint on their own teams. Just be aware, if you decide to keep a really small number of players, the players available to be drafted might not be as good as the ones you let go. Choose conservatively when deciding to drop players.
If we do this, I will hold a 3 round offline prospect/rookie draft, so everyone will have the same shot at getting prospects. These prospects for the 2016 season only, will not have to be placed on your roster to be your property. We will keep a thread showing which players belong to which team. The same suspension rules will apply for these players. For 2017, if you choose to keep these players, you will have to add them to your roster or they become free agents again. This draft will also include international free agent signings. For example, Jose Abreu or Yasmany Tomas would have been eligible for this draft. Again, only players in the ESPN draft pool will be eligible.
For 2017, we will return to the standard draft rules.
Anyone have any thoughts? Objections?

Between rule 3 and 3.1. If a player is called up 3 times but still has the rookie status described in 3.3 does he become a free agent or is he protected?

On his third call up, if he is not on the protected team's roster, he is a free agent and available for anyone to pick up, regardless of the number of at bat or innings pitched.

UPDATE for 2016:
We are about a month away from the ESPN restart and we are still looking for owners for the Marlins and Rangers. I will completely set up the league with all of the rosters before I send out invites, so don't panic if it is a couple of days after the restart before the invites go out. There will be some modification of divisions to try and stay as true to the National and American divisions as we had originally.
For 2016 only, we will have modified draft and keeper rules to help everyone adjust their lineups. For 2017, we will return to our standard draft and keeper rules.
I will update more the closer we get to the restart.
